Your Show Top Commentators Wordpress Widget Not Working Fine?

I have been using this Show top commentators plugin available from Nate right from my first Wordpress templates. Recently I switched to this FourWPTP template but could not get a chance to write about my new template with lovely red colour; I liked this professional looking four column template than the previous one.

I realized in some time that my favorite plugin of Showing top commentators is not working the way I expected. First it was not showing the list, and secondly it did not appear properly. I could not see a way to comment on Nate’s plugin web page but then I decided to contact him by all means [and telling you it was not really very straight to find his contact]. Meanwhile, I tried Krizka’s Show Top Commentator wordpress widget based on Nate’s plugin and unfortunately that didn’t work too.

I m so glad to see Nate replied back within 12 hours, with suggestion to tweak the code as per the sidebar. Nate fixed the problem with appearance of “Top Commentator” title which was appearing in between two columns. But the list of commentators still remained an issue. He asked me to look into the code to fix it which I was planning to, but meanwhile Krizka fixed the issue in his wordpress plugin and replied me.

If you are aware of it, Nate’s plugin is pure PHP code, which in turn was converted to a flexible wordpress plugin by Krizka

I hope you know why this widget is important for me and have read before what I give back to my commentators as a token of appreciation. Thanks Krizka for fixing the widget quickly for me and helping me to reward my regular commentators.

yes.. top commentator is a must.. i barely added that to my blog b/c of the similar problems.

another great plugin is brian’s threaded comments.. where you can reply to a comment.

Great Template but for some reason in Firefox, the sidebars are half-way down the page when I go to a particular post page. Also, Nate is known to be very helpful!

@ [CashForComments] - I think Brian’s plugin does not work with this Template [Not again... :(]

@ Enkay - Yeah, I am aware of that issue and trying to figure out the problem by tweaking the code, but if I would not, I will contact the template developer.

I had it back when I had a guitar blog, it really helped with comments. It also put askimet to work, I had tons of spam comments.

Sold that blog a while back though, so now I’m blog-less. =[

@ modified cars uk: It indeed. It’s both way benefit.

I started commenting on a PR5 blog due to this widget, and stayed on top of the commentators’ list for 4-5 months, of course - it must have passed on some juice to me. And benefit for that blog is - I became a regular reader of the blog, as the articles posted used to be good as well.

Plugins like this make people wanna come back again and again to a blog. It’s a way for a blog owner to show how much he values his readers’ opinions. Seeing how you’re making this work rather well on your blog, I’m thinking of adding this to my blogs as well. Thanks for the great idea!

It was nice that Nate responded very promptly. Top posters plugin is a very good addition to inventory of a blogger. It builds brand, and is a very good way of thanking commentators. And a no-follow tag is a Cherry on the Cake.

I also agree, the top commentator plugin is a must for a wordpress blog. Regular bloggers who habitually comment on the my site are rewarded with a “do-follow” link to their site. Like you said, the increased comments brings a sense of community to the blog.

Hmm…another reason to switch out of Blogger. Sorely lacks customizing capability and plug-ins. They have a Recent Comments widget but it’s difficult to customize.

Top Commentators plugin is indeed a ’sort of must have’. It quite depends on a blogger’s intentions. Some prefer to appreciate the comments and optionally allowing the commentators to leave their link. The top commentators is also a great way to show new visitors that your blog is actually active and visited. I enjoy it, sign of appreciation.

I have an issue with the page templates..

I have 4 menu links in the home page. these pages are loading differently styles pages. So I have created pages in word press admin with same page slugs. They are about, products, contacts, services. I also created the same 4 php files in my new themes named about.php, products.php, contacts.php and services.php

but when I load the pages the its shows only the page templates in the page.php

I am really stuck on this

Any help appreciated ..
