Personally, I think that before anybody really talks about purchasing Twitter people should first figure out what it is and how it’ll make money. There’s a lot of chatter about it as this great new tool but frankly, I just don’t see it yet.

I hope Google leave twitter alone, but I would imagine they will be offering big ££ for it as it has become so popular that it is an obvious target for advertising revenue.

Great article on Google and Twitter - Don’t know if the matchup will happen. I have social bookmarked this article over at SEO Social Bookmarking.

Interesting idea, if this acquisition were to happen it would be mutually beneficial, and the two entities would profit greatly.

If Google purchase Twitter, end up we will see all sites under Google around the net. Betwee, it’s possible to see Google may purchase Twitter in one day later. Let’s wait…

To me it seems like Twitter and Google are a match made in heaven. I think it makes a lot of sense for both companies. Either way I believe we will be seeing adsense on Twitter very soon.

I thought celebrities hated people getting into their personal life? Why would they twitter their inner most thoughts to random people? Or is it their PR people who do it for them?

29855. Paul said in April 24th, 2009

A poor mans email? I wonder how they would monetize twitter if they did purchase it.

29937. Cool Gifts said in April 28th, 2009

I definitely think Google should purchase twitter. I don’t think they need to have a monetization model prior to purchase. You know google could find someway to make money from it.

Google has great people, so I think it will benefit Google if it purchases Twitter.

I hear good things about Twitter from different bloggers, but I’m not quite certain if it would help me build traffic and network with other bloggers. Can anyone explain Twitter to me and whether this would be a good option for me?

29984. iphone said in May 2nd, 2009

@ Paul - They would fill it with adverts and probably start ranking people based on number of followers * popular tweets / something else - or some other crazy algorithm!!

Twitter and facebook both face the challenge of actually making decent money. There is talk of charging for corporate twitter accounts, but we’ll have to wait and see exactly where twitter ends up. It is not going away, that much is for sure!

Although there are benefits to having a central system to manage all our online activity - I feel one company should not have too much control. Having all our eggs in one basket can at times become a dangerous situation.

If google purchase Twitter then google will become more powerful because all the top sites like youtube, orkut, and facebook etc google have purchased these all.

30036. iphone said in May 7th, 2009

Looks like this deal fell through, the current rumour is that Apple are buying Twitter due to the iPhone integration.

30042. Paul said in May 7th, 2009

@iphone - That is true, however I use Twitdeck as my dash board and barely use Twitters home page. I wonder if they would slap adsense in their.

30043. Paul said in May 7th, 2009

@iphone - I wonder if they would implement adsense? I use TweetDeck so I wouldn’t be seeing the ads. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

I would HATE for Google to buy Twitter. Google has too much control as it is.

30249. DisneyLand Paris Deals said in May 29th, 2009

I guess the craze on twitter is temporary..And its quite difficult to make money from twitter.Already google is facing problems with youtube as it is running in losses.

My laptop computer screen has been flickering, it also makes a twittering sound when it does this, I thought it could be the fan, but I opened the computer up and attempted to clean it, I didn’t see that much dust.

30344. Vituperative said in June 8th, 2009

I have no idea why they’re so reluctant to sell it. It’s only a viable model for someone like Google who can endure the long time until it can be monetized.

30388. Future iPods said in June 16th, 2009

short for promotional code. usually used durng sweepstakes and what not with brand name companies.

They might as well, they purchase everything else. Seriously, that’s a big fat YES! Twitter is used and combined with Google’s other online properties they can surely get some benefit out of Twitter.

30455. dentla health plans said in June 25th, 2009

It would be beneficial for Google but I don’t think it would be beneficial for Twitter or its users.

30571. Carz said in July 14th, 2009

They don’t need to buy Twitter. They just have to copy something like it. Like what Facebook did.

30597. Hitachi Magic Wand Reviews said in July 16th, 2009

Google is getting a bit too big for their own good. I think they should leave Twitter aside.

There has been lots of speculations that Google might buy Twitter out. Although, I think Twitter might turn them down.
