Technorati Jump of 18000 with one addition to Authority?

My blog at Technorati had Authority of 125 yesterday in Technorati and Rank of 40265. But I don’t know what have been changed in a day, but today my Authority is 126 and Rank is 22166. A sudden jump of 18000 is unusual when there is no significant change in authority.

In the past, I had posted that I wanted to check how much change I could see in technorati authority and ranks after participating in all those viral links and trains. That was a significant difference and need to be mentioned, my blog’s technorati jumped to Top 50,000 within couple of months. I don’t know the exact time line, as I did not track technorati ranking then. I was just hoping to be in Top 100,000 then.

Let me check if my latest technorati rank stays the same for few more days, which will prove there is nothing wrong with Technorati system. I am happy anyways. I will update you on this again.

Update: Yes, there was something wrong with Technorati today. Now the stats are changed to Authority: 130 and Rank: 38,907 on main page. Though it still shows near to 21000 ranking on this page at technorati

Damn, the fun did not last for long it seems… LOL!

Ahh, never used technorati. I think I’ve used everything else though.

Technorati authority and rank are like rocket science to me. I’ve never really had the motivation to check these stats for my blogs. All I’m doing is just to add original content on a regular basis and hope this translates to decent traffic. So far, so good, but maybe if I take a little time to study the Technorati numbers for my blogs, maybe I’ll be able to get them to suck in more traffic. With Google Pagerank being a bit shaky at the moment there seems to be room for some new ways to value a sites popularity. Maybe Technorati is one of them.

Technorati rank seems to be harder to achieve than Google’s pagerank. But I have to admit, things like PR, alexa rank, and technorati authority make the web more exciting. They kinda show if what is your website’s position and relevance on the web.

I can’t quite figure out how it changes. But if authority and ranks depend on links that have timed out (180 days over), that could cause random changes at time.

Rankings have been very up and down over the last few weeks. I’ve had whole page drops in Google, only to find they have returned to normal within a week or so.

i owned a tech blog.. i was anticipating that i am gearing towards 45000 ranking.. however sad to see i am ranked 340000 all of a sudden, and yet my mate who ran a political blog has his ranking up to 23000, which im pretty sure i have more traffic than him.
