When you plan to show the best of you through your blog to visitors, your care to avoid spelling errors play measure role in the user experience. I would certainly avoid to become regular to a blog, if the spelling mistakes are often. Rather that will turn me down whenever I read something in there.
As you know, your users will understand what you wanted to say, but that’s not sufficient though that may be the ultimate thing you want to percolate to users’ mind. Spell mistakes will affect your credibility eventually.
I remember reviewing a blog which had many spell mistakes. The blogger was passionate but had done lot of spell mistakes. It’s good that he is improving now after the review.
No need to feel down though if you are not good at spelling the words, fortunately there are many online tools and resources which will help you out to spell check your blog posts and websites.
Browser Tools
If you are a die hard fan of Firefox and specially Firefox 2.0, you need not to worry a lot about spell checking as it comes with an in-built spell checker that works inside web forms – very useful for all time online people like me.
But if you are still sticking to Firefox 1.5, you can use the spellbound extension for spell checking functionality.
We have seen a huge surge in Firefox use in last couple of years, right! But still there are few people who like Internet explorer for some or the other reasons. They may be forced to use it at times due to certain technical issues, but does that mean that they should not get the facility of keeping their websites and blogs clean? Here is the IESpell extension for Internet explorer who will take care of spell checking in Internet explorer browser.
Website Spell Check
You may like to give a thorough spell checking exercise for your website. This is specifically useful if you have lot many content pages which are added often and it’s huge task to go through each and every page for spell checking. TextTrust.com has a free trial for your website spell check. They will deliver the report within one business day through email.
Online Tools
SpellChecker.net and Orangoo are two online tools for spell checking. I found Orangoo better for many reasons. You shall go through these tools once to check out which one is better.
Hope this post will help you to give your users the best if the experience while browsing your blog or website.
