Many of you came here searching for money making ideas and new platforms. You would find only those ideas that I am comfortable sharing, tried and tested earlier and think that it’s worth sharing with my users.
So what’s the magic wand here?
If you are thinking we are talking about a magic wand here, it’s more or less correct. It is not clearly a magic wand but it’s a direction for webmasters to think sensibly on optimizing the revenue sources of their blogs or websites.
Being webmasters, you must have been optimizing your websites for better search engine ranking. If it’s revenue earning website, it needs optimization of revenue stream as well. And that’s where you can make more money in fewer efforts or I would say without any extra efforts.
Optimization is the key, whether large business or small business
I decided to see if I can make a little contribution in your money making strategies this year. I could compose this post only because of my continuous efforts to optimize and willingness to share the results with my users! Since I have been into online advertising, I saw so many different ways to make money online and I figured out the one suit to my needs and my blogs. If you dig down into past earning posts in 2008, you would observe that I mentioned the revenue streams each month in earning posts that helped me to reach my goals to make more than $25000 in 2008. Believe me, all this revenue is not from one source but every small bit helps in making money online. Do you think I can hold myself on sharing few of the secrets!
Strategic change in my revenue streams - In-text advertising
Out of few new ways I tried in 2008, one of them was in-text advertising. I always try newer methods of making money online and after proper trial and error, I finalize on the ones I like to stay with for longer term. To be very honest with you, initially I was not happy with the in-text advertising while I started with Kontera and the simple reason was more investment and fewer returns. The ROI numbers were so low, that I was almost at the verge of getting rid of in-text advertising.
Can I bother my users for like $5-10 in a month taking me a complete year to reach to the minimum payout levels? What the heck, I decided to simply get rid of it until I happen to talk to one of my blogger friends back in July’08 about this problem. He suggested me to try Infolinks, a better pay-out in-text advertising so I thought to give it a try back then in July’08 and added the Infolinks code within minutes on one of my blogs. I think even I had talked about it on this blog back in August’08 about how I dumped Kontera and moved to infolinks after I started to see the results immediately. I wish Infolinks affiliate program could have been in place back then, to get him his rewards to refer me to a legitimate money making program. This is kind of revenue I see in Infolinks compared to other services.
Note: Updated with latest revenue report
It was a piece of cake for me (and am sure would be for anyone with little technical skills) in moving to new in-text advertising provided by Infolinks from Kontera. Therefore I almost added the code in all the blogs I have, without making even smallest change to my existing wordpress themes and website templates, except copying and pasting the Infolinks code at the footer of my blog.
If you are not comfortable in editing the code and have a wordpress blog, you can even take help of Infolinks wordpress plugin that is specially developed for easy Infolinks integration in your blog.
So what was the difference between “Before Infolinks” and “After Infolinks”?
Three important words - Multifold revenue increase! Am I talking about millions of dollars change here, not really! Not every webmaster has same size of websites and blogs, so I am talking in terms of eCPM, percentage change with simple comparison of revenue without change in traffic or click through rate. Unfortunately, I can’t pull my last year’s reports from Kontera (and those were not worth sharing proudly as well) but I remember I am talking about few cents of revenue every day accumulating to around $5-10 every month for me. I don’t want to say bad words about any other services that are not doing well but then it’s my own experience and Infolinks is working much better for me than Kontera and for many webmasters like me as well. So it’s YOU who decide what to opt for.
When we talk about different services, we shall talk about eCPM as its common terminology to compare the revenue potential. That’s where Infolinks won the battle, by giving me steady $2 - $2.5 eCPM compared to few cents in Kontera. My reports show an eCPM in the range of $8 to $13 since I incorporated these ads in my blogs. With little tweak in the appearance of the ads (with the help of their integration guide), I am hoping to see an average $2.5+ eCPM here onwards. The integration guide not only helps me to choose the appearance of my ads, but also allow me to decide how many ads I want to have appearing on my blog pages.
I happen to read some complaints about Infolinks showing ads from same advertiser many times. In this case, I would suggest trying this integration guide and choose the content category of your website to see more targeted ads. Many times webmasters chose to ignore such simple tweaks, and lose the potential revenue. Optimization is the key, you see!
Am I in love with Infolinks?
By the time you read the detailed analysis above, you might be thinking that I am in love with them. I can’t deny that fact, and there is no reason why I should not. Especially when I talk about their quality of support team that give personal attention to your queries and … almost immediately.
I had an excellent experience of their support team at the time when they introduced their affiliate program. My referral link was not working initially and I had already posted a blog post about Infolinks affiliate program. I was bit worried about losing track of potential referrals due to this technical issue. I was contacted proactively by support team when they fixed the issue and my referral link started working. Not only they stopped here, but were generous and professional enough to add my blog post in their page of testimonials.
By now, I did not experience any problems in Payments from them either. I was not surprised when I received my payment in my Paypal account in assured time lines after reaching $100 first time. So would you think that I would have anything to complain about? Updates: I just received my March payment in my Paypal today on 27th April 2009
Finally it’s call of your online money making strategies. With my own experience, I can certainly assure you to see better performance by Infolinks than using any other in-text advertising service. If you have not done so far, sign up with them and see yourself. Always keep in mind, optimization is the key!
