I never used to do it, but I started tracking my online earnings as my new year resolution from January month this year. Tracking the online earnings proved to be my motivation to keep on making money online. When I realized that I might not touch the $2000 mark this month, I spent some more time working on my blogs and websites and now already crossed $2000 mark. You would soon see the breakup of my March earnings in 1st week of April. There were no surprise checks this month like the ones that added up in February earnings significantly, and it remained a steady month but certainly much better than January month.

When I started this blog, my earning hovered around $800-900 per month on an average so I had chosen the tag line “making 2 cents per minute” but I think I need to change the tag line of this blog and make it “making 4 cents per minute” because the average earning now increased to $1500-2000 per month.

See this is not bad earnings at all, when I do it part time. Many of the bloggers have been in online money making venture for full time, and might be still trying hard to match these earnings. I don’t mind these extra money coming in my Paypal account to make my life colourful.

As I said, tracking the earnings every month proved to my motivation - I thought why not to track it every week. So I added this Money meter on the side bar that will be updated every weekend with total earnings since January 1st, 2008 [I just updated it with latest sum of earnings]. I will keep on tracking my total earnings for 2008 along with monthly earning posts. Do you like the idea? It will not only help me to keep a track of my earnings regularly and motivate myself but it’s also a motivation pill for my readers.

Good question Gadget.. right now I am focusing on stabilizing the income and see how much time I can save. Once I get more time, I am going to increase my average monthly income goal. Unfortunately there are only 24 hrs in a day :).

my goal is 100$/daily in adsense earnings. its quite a challenge for me, and for all newbies for that matter. i check on my earnings everyday to motivate myself. I’m waiting for my first google check now. when i recieve it i will have it scanned and hang it on my wall

I’ve applied for Yahoo Publisher Network already but they are responding slowly as slug.

If no success, I will give a shot to adCenter

For now, I use only Chitika.

Congratulations! I am thinking about starting a blog, so I researched a a company to design it and they want $2,000 to put it together for me. I was taken back because I thought you could get on up for pretty cheap.

$2000 is too expensive - you’ll get really professional template for that but on the other hand, you can get pretty decent design just for around $100… good enough for starting the blog…

I see no reason to pay $2000 for someone else to set up your blog, Paul. Wordpress is free, and if you want you can buy a system like Semiologic Pro with a lot of plugins and tweaks already built in for a fraction of that price. Besides, if you want to be successful, I think you need to know at least some of the “underbelly” of your own blog so that you can know why things happen the way they do. This is just the beginning of the Search Engine Optimazation tricks you will have to learn in order to really make money with your blog.

@ Prosperity writer, I am eager to see the scan of check, just like Shoemoney.

@risoknop, I am really sorry to know that you are banned from adsense. They don’t even give a reason for banning and publisher remains clueless. But due to many other options in affiliate networking, it’s much easier now a days to switch to other money making options than relying on adsense only as in the past. This also in a way Motivation to make more money by spreading your risks with different money making options.

@ Paul, please don’t spend so much of money on starting a blog. $100 is decent amount, and if you don’t want to even spend that [on actual blog design and setup - I am not considering advertising or marketing costs here], I would be more than happy to help you out in setting it up and building it for you for free. I want to help you make money in some or the other way, and by saving your money - I would be helping you making money - Every penny saved is every penny earned

How do I find a good template like this one for free or at least cheaper than $2K? I believe that I have downloaded the correct files and is the next step getting a theme then uploading it on Blue Host?

I suppose you are using Wordpress:

1) Install Wordpress - make sure it works

2) Download the theme you like. Upload it to wp-content/themes/ folder.

2) Login to Wordpress and go to Presentation tab (if using 2.3) and activate the new theme there by clicking on it. If you are using version 2.5, go to Design Tab and activate the theme there.

3) Go to your blog and you should see your new theme

note that some of the older themes aren’t compatible with the latest Wordpress but those are really not good anymore so…

I once heard that adsense doesn’t like you posting your earnings online. I see a lot of people do it but if its true then I don’t want to get banned. BTW I love your site already.

@ Computer repair, thanks! Adsense does ban you for posting your total earnings anymore.
@ keylogger, do you think passionate person like me would be only sitting idle watching the money grow. No way! I would not mind to see it growing but the same time, I would be thinking how to make it double in coming months.

Hi. I’m not a blog newbie, but I’m a newbie to earning money online.

Yesterday, I was tallying up my monthly online earnings (a figure which I appreciate ‘cos I was earning NOTHING this time last year). To put it into context, I then added up how much I’d made online so far this year - and doing that made me realise how much I had achieved.

I wouldn’t even begin to compare my earnings with yours, and I won’t, but I think everyone should be congratulated regardless of what earning level they’re at. As you probably have experienced yourself, it’s often the initial, tentative steps that are the hardest.

That’s a really good motivation idea. You want to keep increasing your earnings so it is different each time someone comes to visit your site. I’m not so sure I want to do something like this on my site quite yet though :S

Good idea. I will check your money meter regularly. It not only motivates you, but me as well.
Now I know I got to keep going. Not give up. Giving up is the #1 reason why people do NOT make money online.
