I have very different topic to talk about today than usual. Well, it’s neither a running commentary on what’s going on with me in my personal life with my friends and family, not any news in Internet marketing; but it’s about my thoughts. Completely non technical.
I have a question in my mind for my readers. How many of your are sports enthusiastic? I am one! But I did not go much beyond soccer, cricket and tennis. I am just done with French Open final, Enjoyed Nadal beating Federer in straight sets and waiting for Wimbledon to start off now. Though I could not make it to Wimbledon, I had dug out a place to buy Wimbledon tickets easily.
You must be some or the other sports enthusiast but most of you must be hovering around main stream sports. How many of you are aware of coming Beijing Olympics? And if you are, do you have good interest in the games or competitions that are conducted in Olympics. This was the thought that led me to think about the legends that were the brightest stars on the horizon of sports and one of them was Jesse Owens.
There is a reason behind reminding this great man. In the days when blacks in the United States were denied equal rights, Jesse had brought fame to the nation by winning four gold medals in 100 yard sprint, long jump, 220 yard sprint and 220 yard low hurdles. This is part of the great Jesse Owens History and this achievement was acclaimed as the most impressive athletic achievement since 1850.
If you read Jesse Owens Biography, you might come to know many facts about him but you might not know few of these bitter facts.
He was never invited to white house by then President Franklin Roosewelt. His accomplishments were acknowledged after almost 19 years by American President, Eisenhower.
American atheletic officials ended his career immediately after he denied to join the team in Sweden to compete, giving precedence to some commercial offers.
He was making his living being a sport promoter. He would entertain people by giving the local sprinters a good start and beat them by starting late in 100 yard spring or beat the race horses.
He was one of the great sports person I admired ever! I thought my readers shall read about some great people in our journey of blogging.
