I have been sent this new blog site to review by one of the blog owners as usual. The “.de” domain took away my attention from other stuff I was doing, like going through the statistics of my blog, and finding out the increase in search engine traffic. I hope every one of you know that .DE domains are for German sites. It’s just excites me to read this German language blog scheinschatten.de using the Google translator service.
If you are interested in the blogs on entertainment topic, and specially you are one of those who are into DVDs, Videos, Music or kind of movie video lovers group, then this blog is for you. This guy has been writing good articles on future trends in entertainment media arena including DVD download and Video Download.
If you read his article on DVD download, you would understand his opinion on advantages of downloading DVDs than purchasing physical copies. Hey DVD sellers and shops, beware! you have a good threat here for your business. But you cannot do nothing, because if people gonna like downloading DVDs on internet, they will. You cannot do nothing about it anyways.
I noticed that this blogger has observed some benefits of DVD download and one of them is Environment factor. While we all are yelling and discussing about environment protection, he has brought up a very good point of reducing DVD manufacturing and saving the environment. I remember watching a 20 minutes video on Environment protection by reducing our hunger on electronics media. The clear message either from that video I watched or this article I read here at this German site, we should consume less electronics media and help to save the environment.
Though I liked the articles he has been writing, I have some suggestions for him.
Blog design
I think there is lot to improve upon it’s design. The wordpress theme he has been using is one of those common themes that can be seen on every other blog. I would suggest to go for an entertainment related theme. If you would not mind to spend some money, please hire a blog theme developer. I am sure he would do a great job and bring colours to your blog. Otherwise, you can just simply find any free wordpress themes website and download some funky entertainment themes.
Motivation to Visitors
Another thing I would suggest is to give some relevant links to the users in this niche. There should be motivation to the visitors to comment on the blog articles as well, so the blog will look more interactive than full of articles. Just like we have been using the Top commentator plugin on our blog, he can also use that and attract commentators.
Monetization
While looking at the monetization aspect of the blog, I observed that there is more scope to monetize the website. Right now there are only adsense ads and that are also placed only on individual post pages. The homepage does not have any ads where as that should be the most visited page. I am not very sure about the earnings made by adsense, but as far as my knowledge goes, adsense does not pay much in entertainment niche until you have like thousands of visitors everyday. The blogger can also think of appearance of adsense ads to increase the CTR of the ads.
So overall it’s good blog with entertainment niche articles, and we have enjoyed our first ever tour to other than English language blog. Hope you did too!
downloading DVDs requires a ton of bandwidth. Cheap highspeed bandwidth isn’t quite here yet. Almost. Maybe in 2 more years?
