February 2008 Proved to be One Significant Month of Earnings

Hope I am not too late to publish the earning report for February 2008, though I wanted to shoot this post on 1st Feb but nevermind. Things become busy and there is very little time in hand to manage so many things. Anyways!

Due to the month with 2 days shorter than others, we were expecting a little decrease in revenue but the things went upside down and we did not realize even. If you remember the revenue of January 2008 was $1407. Feb’08 turned out to be a dark horse in the race of 12 months [though we have not see other 10 yet] and accumulated whopping double the revenue in Feb month.
Total Revenue for February 2008: $2908

There are some surprise revenue checks this month and that added to the increase in overall revenue this month along with significant increase in private sales. While posting my earning, I also keep a watch on fellow blogger that are making good amount of money and keep reading the blogosphere to learn new money making ideas. I was little surprised to see that I crossed this nice guy Tyler in total Feb earnings, ofcourse he can make much more considering the fact that his blog gets much better traffic than mine but I believe he is not monetizing it well or may be that is only his one blog earning, and he must be having many arrows in his quiver. One more blogger I admire is Jim Karter for his achievement in online earnings, crossing a $50000 mark is not easy fella, yes it’s 4 zeroes - you counted correctly; I will probably admire Jim Karter more if he starts revealing his way of making so much of money or even how many websites he is accumulating these dollars from. And till then, I will consider it as a dream only.

Anyways, Here is the quick breakup of my Feb earnings of $2908.

Private Sales like reviews, textlinks: $1296 [70% increase from Jan month]
Google Adsense Revenue: $649 [28% increase]
Other CPC programs like YPN, Adbrite, Kontera: $817 [437% increase]
Misc Checks: $146

This increase in CPC programs is nothing but revenue from some of the CPC programs, that are not very regular but might be regular this month onwards. I would keep a watch for next couple of months’ revenue and see if these surprise checks can be made regular ;).

Specially, if I get some spike in traffic like this each month. Around 9200 visits, and 2-3 times the page views.

Talking about the traffic in Feb on one of my finance blogs, it was not unexpected traffic but it was planned and opportunity oriented traffic. I had mentioned once how to get seasonal search engine traffic before, the same way we can get opportunity based traffic as well. You need to keep your eyes wide open on the things going on around and hottest topic in search engine. I would call it as opportunity based Seach engine optimization.

What did I do different to get this traffic?

I figured out the upcoming hot topic and posted the information on what user would be looking for. I just tweaked the post title in such a way that Google would love it and bring it on first page at least. Within 1-2 days, the blogpost was hovering from 1st to 5th place for the search term. So basically, you need to grab the opportunity and implement the plan asap in such cases. Rest leave it upto CPC programs, they will take care of revenue generation for you.

So keep in mind, whatever the best content you must be writing, you have to have traffic to read it or the efforts go in vain. One of the best ways to attract visitors and get involved with your blog is write good content and then encourage them to leave a comment on your blogpost. You can plan something what I have been already doing with my top commentators, giving them back a free link in return for leaving a comment at my blog and be in top 5 people to comment through out the month.

Making money online is pretty easy, you just need to be looking for an opportunist and be serious, regular in blogging.
