Third war of browsers is re-ignited by our dear Google - with the launch of Google Chrome! A browser with a difference in it’s architecture. The browser is no longer single threaded process. But it’s a multi-threaded browser. Each tab of this browser is actually a separate process with it’s own memory space. Rather Google chrome treats each web page as application. When you close a tab, you are virtually terminating the process and freeing up the memory space given to this application.

As we have been using the browsers for memory intensive web applications like watching videos, playing online games; it’s need of the hour to have a browser that does not crash due to the neighbor tab crashes due to the web application opened inside that tab with poor memory management. Google Chrome will allow you to close the tab that is causing problem and you can switch to other tabs easily. This is achieved by the multi-threading as each tab will be running on it’s individual thread and memspace.
At the first glance, the simple objective of this browser looks like giving an experience of stable, secure, faster, clean and open source browser.I just downloaded the browser and writing this post in Google chrome itself, I observed some interesting things that you might also like to look at:
Google Chrome Dashboard

Google chrome provides you with a dashboard that gives access to frequently accessed websites. It’s kind of useful features for bloggers who have their wordpress blogs open all time for some or the other reasons :-). But some of you might not like this feature if your laptop or computer is being used by your family members or friends.Feeling threatened? Okay, let me clarify.Google Chrome also implements a new privacy feature. It’s probably called incognito. Basically if you browser while being in incognito
mode, nothing ever gets logged. I think that this is a cool feature - relax now.
More Visible Browser Space
Initially it’s looking like I am browsing by hiding all the taskbars and menus. This browser gives ample space for web pages to show off their real estate. I am not still used to see this open space yet. I think if this design establishes itself and liked by web users, it’s good for webmasters to show off more content of their blog above the fold.
Pop-up windows are not blocked but -
But they are opened as minimized windows. I am little scared about this feature. I could not find out a way to block the pop-ups yet, that means either there is no option to block pop-ups or the option is remotely placed beyond reach of normal users. If this browser needs to be secure, I think pop-ups should not be placed like minimized windows. I am already developing a script that pops-up a webpage with full of malicious activities.
There must be something wrong. Either I am underestimating Google Chrome or they are really smart to handle the malicious activities even with minimized loaded pop-ups. These pop-ups that are minimized can be opened in a new tab by simply dragging or clicking open.
If you observe, what I talked about is all that is visible. But the most important thing here is the multi-threading implementation. If that works as intended, this browser will grow faster than the lightening speed.
You must be interested in going through the making of Google chrome - Google chrome architecture is nicely explained here.
Download Google chrome - meanwhile I would make a tea for myself.
