Google pagerank again has been updated couple of days back in June 2009. While Google had never been so prompt, looks like they have set a goal in 2009 to update the pagerank every month.

The last Google pagerank update was just on 24th May 2009 and we had discussed in brief about it. This pagerank update in June month is a bit early thinking Google has been doing it quarterly in past.

Google has become pretty strict about selling paid textlinks at your blogs and websites, and we have seen some impact on the blogs due to this I believe. So if your blog has been affected by latest pagerank update and lost the pagerank, I would suggest remove paid textlinks and send Google reconsideration request which certainly works for penalized websites and blogs.

I have noticed the change in the green bar on 24th May for one of my blogs, but I did not give enough attention thinking it’s one odd glitch for the firefox Quick search status bar showing me PR of any blog quickly in Firefox. I was under this assumption that it’s too quick to even think about it, because the last update I have seen was in April 2009 PR update.

But yes, yesterday while taking a round of rest of my blogs, I found out that Google has started acting up and changing the green bar.

You might see some volatility in your blog or website’s Pagerank this week. I did not find much change in PR for my blogs except few of them (I have plenty of blogs running around), but happy to listen to what you have been experiencing. Specially when Google was not expected to bring one more PR change within couple of months.

Google seems to become regular in bringing cheer to webmasters or dishearten some of them. After the last pagerank update on 31st Dec / 1st Jan; Google pagerank is back in here.

I realized it after I saw the change in my latest blog on UK money saving‘s Pagerank changed from PR0 to PR2. There is no change in my travel blog pagerank as well (actually I was expecting it to go up to PR4 probably). Thanksfully no disheartening news this time except no change in this blog’s PR which did not improve as I was hoping. I still need to check all of my websites and blogs and do some analysis.

I got a private message on a webmaster forum today asking for link exchange with a PR6 website with any PR4+ link exchange in return. You might be getting such requests through various means, so I would better bring this to your notice as well.

First of all, this request sounds fishy if someone is asking for such link exchange where they are expecting something lower than their level. Mostly, such people if ever ask for low PR websites, they ask for three way link exchange with backlink pointing to one of their other websites.

How would you find out whether the site is legitimate?

1. Check the backlinks of this website, there should be considerable number of backlinks to reach to such high PR. If it’s lower PR you get request from, be sure that there should be some number of quality backlinks before you decide to say yes.

2. Go to websites like digpagerank.com and just add this website in there to check the real Pagerank. If it’s good PR, it will be shown in Green, and if it’s fake PR, it will be in Red. For non-confirmed PR, it will show it in Orange, avoid linking to such PRs.

Google PR updates Jan 2009 / Dec 2008 seems to be have taken place on 31st December 2008 or 1st January 2009. Well, it’s a good news for my newly started blog that have gone up from PR0-PR1 to PR3-PR4 now. But it’s not very good news for this blog. It’s home page came down from PR3 to PR2, and surprisingly the internal pages of the blog still have PR5, PR3 like higher PRs. I could not understand this logic where the homepage has less PR but internal pages are highly valued in terms of PR. Seems like it’s a glitch and I might see change in PR again. (In between, one of my blog lost PR for 2 days, and got it back in couple of days)

Anyways, it’s 1st Jan and it’s holiday here. So I need to carry on with my planned tour to London. You would soon see the updates of my tour on my travel tips blog.

As Google PR update is very important news for every webmaster, I thought I should update you on it.
