Most of you would want to go out to celebrate new year’s eve. But there are plenty of reasons, you should spend time at home on last day of the year.

Save your money

On the special occasions, it would simply cost a fortune to spend the new year’s eve outside with family. All the restaurants, pubs, clubs are charging exorbitant charges to spend few hours on the last day of year. Moreover, if you don’t like the music and entertainment, it’s absolutely waste of money.

Avoid the Crowd

I don’t know about everyone, but I absolutely hate the crowd. I try my best to avoid all the occasions where I may find crowd around. And with this being new year’s eve, most of them are drunk and wasted. Who would like to face such a crowd.

Cold Weather

Most of the countries in the world have bad weather this time of the year. It’s sub zero in Europe, America and Canada. It’s pretty cold in Asian countries too. Isn’t it a pain to get ready with all your warm clothes, and coats and go out. Simply stay at home, and avoid the hard weather.

Long Weekend to Relax

1st January being holiday all over the world, it’s usually one of those long weekends which you really deserve after hard work all the time all the year. Why not to relax on this long weekend. If you are really not comfortable just relaxing, introspect yourself on how your 2010 was spent and plan something good for new year.

Family Time

It’s the last but most important reason. It’s a real family time, believe me. Your family will be so happy to be with you at home. Play cards, carrom, monopoly, any board games or play Wii, Xbox, PS3 whatever your family likes. Otherwise, simply spend time watching all those new year programs for free on television or rent DVDs and watch movies.

You have all the time to go out rest of the year, but think about these five reasons. What you think? Are there any other reasons you can think of to stay at home on New Year’s eve?

I have recently read an article about things to do in life, and I realized that I thought pretty similar to that article. In the childhood, everything looks bright. Impossible looks possible but post-30, the things change, the responsibilities increase, we start thinking negative. That does not mean everyone that it applies to everyone above 30, there are always young at heart goons, but it’s rule of 70:30. If you are not 30 yet, try to think about few things that you always want to do, even if those are most simple and obvious things, just think about it. After the time is gone, those simple things look difficult to achieve.

So what are the things that I did before I was 30.

1. Travel the world: I did not travel all the world, but I tried to do as much as I can, or at least few main countries I always wanted to visit – US, UK, France, Italy as of now – the next in the plan, rest of the Europe and some nice islands in small countries

2. Start  a business: I always wanted to start a small business, and I could do it due to my knowledge in blogging and some of my professional experience. What’s better – I get paychecks as well as business checks, so it’s double the fun. If it does not allow due to your responsibilities now, just try it in parallel and get the experience. It’s fun.

3. Work out like you never did: I did not get lot of time few years before to spend lot of time working out on my muscles, but now I am taking out separate time out for the gym and trying to be as regular as I can.

4. Walk and Trek: With all types of vehicles available, we forgot about using our legs. I feel like we only use them to stretch in bed. It’s time to oil them up and get them into practice. Walk as much as you can and that’s not routine, but walk anywhere around. Go to mountains, see what you are missing, Walk up on the hill and look around. You would forget every pain in life. I did.

5. Embrace a sport: You remember how you were in your childhood, coming back from school, throwing the school bag in the house and rushing out of house in the evening to play with friends, whether it was cricket, football or anything else. Now tell me when did you do this last? Before you start complaining about your back pain, shoulder pain, choose a sport you like and embrace it. Badminton, tennis, anything but join it and spend some calories in there. I touched badminton court after so many years, but the satisfaction I got back was fulfilling.

I would say I got hooked to Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) this year. I started watching BGT pretty late, almost when Hollie Steel appeared in auditions and since then I try not to miss any of the episodes of this brilliant series. I just watched the final of Britain’s Got talent 2009 and am mesmerized with the talent people have. My personal favorites are Diversity, Flawless (both are dance groups), Julian Smith (Saxophone player) and Susan Boyle (Scottish Singer). Let’s see who wins, by that time you watch all those videos on youtube or I would try to embed those here.

Slumdog Millionaire has been a favorite movie of all the movie awards and I am right not watching it live from red carpet guessing if Slumdog will make it in Oscars as well, whats your guess?

I saw those cute kids Azarudding and Rubina being interviewed, in reality from slums of Mumbai, did not know what to speak in English but the y were full of confident like red carpet stars.

Just after the kids, Anil Kapoor and rest appeared on the camera followed by Dev Patel and Freida Pinto. I was LMAO when Anil was trying to be a matchmaker for Dev and Freida. I could not stop myself commentating on this blog though it’s off-topic.

I am just hoping that this heavily India dominated UK film wins the Oscar for best film and best director, do you think it will win?
