This morning, I received a mail where some unknown webmaster is recommending me to join Kontera network. Unfortunately I was already part of Kontera network so I did not need to follow the link in mail but I kept wondering why someone would recommend me this way to Kontera. The mail sender did not seem to be from Kontera network so it was not Kontera’s promotion mail either. See this mail extract.
Firstly I would apologize to everyone for this email as it was not something expected, but it definitively flattering for me and I am willing to share this experience with you.
You have most probably seen me using Kontera ads on my blog, and aside some internal issues I am having to block some advertisers I have to admit that Kontera can turn out into a real money maker or at least cover the expenses of the hosting and some extra bucks in your pocket. There is lots of space optimizing your Kontera ads all what it requires is some attention and to monitor them for couple of days and with the new Kontera Hybrid their ads are even more attractive then ever.
If you are received this email but you have not seen me blogged for this promotion Kontera is running is simple because I wanted to keep some space to bush and bug Kontera’s staff to get issues resolved in a faster way (what works better than public bashing when your voice is not heard inside), but don’t mind that issue, Kontera staff is always kind and gentle (but you will always find one of those..you know). The space to bash was kept, but I wanted to share this news with some of the regular readers and commentators of the blog.
There is an additional way to make some extra cash out of Kontera, but for those details you’ll have to check your Kontera Publisher Center (if you are already signed up with Kontera, if not its time you sign up).
Now here is what I did wrong in the morning. I read another mail from Kontera network later to this mail and realized what was it [the first promotion mail] all about. Kontera central mails as well as this blog post states that you would get a $25 Bonus for inviting a friend to join Kontera. There you go - I realized now why I was sent a mail from some webmaster about joining Kontera… :). But this scared me with foreseen spam in my inbox. I hope very few have my email Id and fewer of them know I blog.
You might see lot of spam mails from blogger or webmasters inviting you to join Kontera network and when you join, they would get paid $25 for you joining them. I am somehow not very comfortable with this idea from Kontera as it encourages semi-spam emails. Now why I call them semi-spam is - because the people you are getting the email from might not be real hardcore spammers but they would be encouraged to do so to make those $25 extra bucks in their Kontera account.
By the way, if you are thinking to make couple of dummy email IDs and invite yourself, remember Kontera people are not fools - OK! The invited publisher has to be active publisher and the definition of Active publishers is “publishers who reach 50,000 impressions within 60 days of signing up to Kontera’s network”.
So now you decide whether you would like to make those $25 extra bucks for each publisher referral by spamming people around or only by inviting your legitimate contacts.
